Message from the PRO

My Dear Ladies,

It has been great to see some of you playing golf even though it has been somewhat restricted. I can’t wait for you all to see the new clothes (Peter Millar, Jofit & SanSoleil) we have for ladies this Spring in the shop. The events schedule looks amazing and I really hope to we can get back to normal golf soon.

Following the mandate from our Governor we will not be hosting the Ladies League Luncheon next week. We hope to have a better understanding in the next couple of weeks for the rescheduled date of this Kickoff event. With the uncertainty of the next month we will not be billing the Ladies League entry at this time. I hope you all will start coming out to play on Tuesdays in April but please be very cautious and follow the guidelines of the CDC and our Club.

If you have any questions feel free to call the shop or email me.

Looking forward to green grass and sunshine!

Ladies League beginning soon!

Happy Friday! I am reaching out to remind you about the Ladies League Luncheon on March 31st at 11:30am. Please email cynara@jamesrivercountryclub.com if you plan to attend. You can also call her at 757-595-3327.

The golf maintenance team and I have set up a new set of Medallion/Short Course tees. This course plays 3972 yards and will be a fun option this season to make the game more enjoyable for all that want to learn this great game. Anyone wanting to play from this set of tees will need to inform the professional staff when you sign up for league play to allow us to pair you correctly with the appropriate scorecard!

As a reminder, this season will be focused on getting on the course and creating a deeper sense of community and camaraderie in our ladies league. Our goal is to provide all ladies of the club opportunities to learn the game, play the game and compete in a friendly environment.  A few highlights are listed below.

  • Three Divisions – 18 Hole, 9 Hole and (Medallion) Short Course, Prizes will be awarded each week (9am Shotgun, 8:30 Shotgun, June, July & August)
  • Three Hole Club – Developmental on course group, participants will learn the game with a Golf Professional each week (9:05am – 9:55am)
  • More Lunch Socials and opportunities for gathering
  • Ladies Instructional Clinics – learn weekly from the Professional Staff in all facets of the game of golf. Clinics will be $10 for all League members and $25 for non-league members

If someone you know is interested in joining the ladies league invite them to this kickoff event. Receiving this email means you are already part of the league. League entry is still only $55. I will be sending weekly league updates on Tuesdays to keep you posted on all ladies golf.

David Mascitti, PGA has joined the JRCC Team and has a wealth of experience and knowledge of this great game of golf. He is an excellent teacher with a passion for customer service. He will be starting on March 21st and he looks forward to getting to know all of you this coming season.

NEW Golf Professional at JRCC

Dear Members,

Jeremy is pleased to announce the newest addition to our Golf Pro Shop staff,  David M. Mascitti, PGA, 1st Assistant Golf Professional.  Jeremy shared this background with the JRCC members:

David M. Mascitti was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia.  He lived in James Landing, attended Ferguson High School and then moved to Virginia Beach where he played high school golf at Frank W. Cox.  He earned his B.S. in Business Management at Elon College and also played on the golf team.  He started his golf career at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1994.  After passing his Playing Ability Test (PAT) a few years later at Club Med in Port St. Lucie, Florida, he began his PGA career at Kingsmill Resort.  In 1998, he accepted the same position at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.  He earned his PGA Membership in 2008.  For ten years he was the Head Professional at The Pines at Elizabeth City and for three years at Greenbrier Country Club in Chesapeake, Virginia.  Most recently, he was running the Woods Course at Kingsmill.

David is looking forward to bringing his exemplary customer service and teaching skills to the Membership at James River Country Club.  In his free time, he enjoys watching his daughter, Madeline, play basketball and tennis for Cox High School, spending quality time with his wife, Kristin, playing the great game of golf and fishing.

Please join me in welcoming David Mascitti to the JRCC family.

David M. Mascitti, PGA
