Golf 2018 Season

Below is the schedule of events for the coming season. We are currently seeking volunteers for all events highlighted in red. We greatly appreciate all of those who have already reached out to put their name in as a volunteer.

Tuesday, October 23^rd - Ladies Rally for the Cure, Milly Wassum and Susan Armfield

Tuesday, November 6^th - Ladies Turkey Shoot

Ladies Golf Kickoff Clinic March 29

The first day of spring is just a few days away. With nicer weather just around the corner now is the perfect time to start dusting off the clubs to get ready for the 2018 Ladies Golf Season at JRCC. To help make the transition from this frigid offseason as smooth as possible we will be hosting a Kick Off Clinic. We welcome everyone to join us for a glass of wine and a complimentary tune up on Thursday March 29^th from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in the Golf Museum (show up any time).  Please let us know if you plan to attend.

The kick off clinic will be an opportunity to invite anyone that might be interested in participating in the ladies league. We will have a free putting clinic on the set up, and swing of the putting stroke to help our ladies get ready for the golf season.  Bring your putter if you have one.

The ladies play exclusively on Tuesday mornings from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. but players can still be eligible for weekly prizes if scores are posted in the golf shop by 5:00 p.m. This allows the golf shop time to score, post prize money and e-mail results. The clinic is also on Tuesdays starting at 11:00 a.m. and provides instruction for all skill levels.

Dear Ladies,

 

The 2018 Ladies Golf Season is right around the corner!

The fee for the season is still $55 and will include the very popular 11am Tuesday Clinic at no additional fee. The golf calendar is official as of today and we have a number of fun events planned. If you are not interested in participating in this year’s JRCC Women’s Golf Program simply email  Jeremy and he will take you off the 2018 roster. If you know of anyone that might be interested in joining please let me know and he will be happy to reach out to them.

The Ladies Kickoff Clinic will be on Thursday, March 29^th not March 20^th as provided in the newsletter.  Practice Rounds for the Ladies League will start on Tuesday, April 10^th along with the start of our Tuesday Clinics. Play for winnings will being  May 1^st with the same breakdown as last season.

 Events are most successful when they have an event chair from the membership. Below is the list of events for the season and I could really use some help with the following events that are highlighted in red.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Chanukah, and Blessings for the New Year!

Twass the first day of Golfmas,

And our tee time was here,

The golf balls were rolling,

All golfers had cheer.

Our group was next up, the ranger gave a call,

I reached in my bag and pulled out my ball.

My friends, all ready as they waited their turn,

They examined my practice swing trying to learn.

I had just tied my golf shoes and put on my hat,

And stepped up to my ball to give it whack.

Then, in my backswing, I heard some loud chatters,

I hacked at the ball and heard the club shatter.

The results of that swing came a really nice breeze,

And with a wicked hard slice my ball sailed at some trees.

The spin of the ball went wildly out of control,

I screamed “FORE” and watched a group roll.

Then what to my painful ears did hear,

My ball hit 5 trees, a skunk and a deer,

I jumped in my golf cart so lively and quick,

Curled up in a ball because that shot made me sick.

Slow as molasses my friends then came,

Laughed at my shot and called me some names,

Now slicer, now hacker, really bad golfer, on duffer, on numskull, on blunder and choker,

To out in the rough to the back in the sticks,

I pulled out my fairway to show them some tricks,

I stepped up to my ball and swung as hard as I could,

The stupid little round thing just hit some more wood.

It bounced all around and shot at my friends,

They hit the ground hard and covered their heads,

I look up ahead to see where I stand,

My buddy pointed behind me at a bunker of sand.

I stepped to the bunker where that shot I did shank,

Not paying attention I stepped on the rake.

I may have started out bad but I'll make it up now,

If I keep my head down I will get there some how.

I swang and I swung until I started to shout,

I suck at this game I can't get this damn ball out!%^$$#@%#%

Then as soon as I was about to quit,

I hit that sweet spot and watched the ball lift,

It flew through the air with perfect flight,

Headed right for the pin, I hit it just right!

The ball hit the green right next to the pin,

and wouldn't you know it, IT DROPPED RIGHT IN!

I smiled and jumped as it went just where I aimed,

Happy Golfmas to all, I love this damn game!
