Results from the PRO-August 11

Thanks for your patience with all the clean-up by Rob and his staff during the last week or so.  I added the scores from Tuesday less holes 3, 11 & 14.  That was the fair way to do it since ALL of you finished the same 15 holes.

If you would like to post your scores from Tuesday, you may post what you would most likely have made on that hole based on your handicap.  For example, if you are a 36 handicap, you would give yourself a double bogey on any holes you do not complete.  Or if you are a 25 handicap and did not play the 3rd hole, you would give yourself a double bogey since that is the 6th toughest hole on the course.  I can explain it better to you all in person if you would like.

TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE:  While clean-up is happening on the course, if you hit a ball in an area of debris and such, you may take full relief (no closer to the hole) if it affects your swing, stance or posture.  Please consult with the rest of your group before doing so.

Gross

1st Becky Kelly – 73        $10

2nd Bongsook Hong – 79    $8

Net

1st Susan Wilson – 52        $10

2nd Susan Nixon – 53        $8

Your help is needed!

With the strong increase in play, we are seeing more ball marks on the greens than usual. This problem can be an easy fix if all of us repair two ball marks per hole. The above diagram is a great picture from the USGA of how to properly repair a ball mark. Also on our Facebook page under the “Care for the Course” Video Series we have several instructional videos of procedures to ensure that golfers are doing their part of keeping the course pristine.  CLICK HERE and HERE to watch our videos on how to repair ball marks.

We are still asking that you maintain the distance a ball is struck on the practice range to 125 yards. The golf committee is committed to finding a solution to keeping our neighbors safe and our members being able to hit more club than before. The limited flight range balls are still being found in the yards of those across the street and I cannot stress enough for the time being to adhere to the 125-yard rule.

The Dress Code Policy at JRCC is an important part of the overall experience of playing the course and being on the grounds. The following is designed to help you prepare you and your guests for golf at James River.

General: Proper golf-specific attire is required at all times. Proper attire includes Bermuda shorts but does not include: denim blue jeans, cut-off shorts, tennis shorts, cargo shorts, bathing suits or other attire determined to be inappropriate by the Board of Directors. Shoes must be of the approved spike-less variety. Shirts that are tucked in with sleeves and collars and mock turtlenecks are appropriate.

Ladies: Bare midriffs, barebacks, halter tops, low-slung pants, short shorts, and tank tops are inappropriate. Collarless and sleeveless shirts designed to be worn outside the pants are appropriate. Bermuda shorts and shorts/skorts that are less than five inches above the middle of the knee are appropriate.

"It was great seeing all of you yesterday despite the quite humid playing conditions.  I can’t stress how important it is to continually hydrate on these hot days.

There will be no Ladies Day Tuesday, July 28th as we are hosting the VSGA Junior Championships.  We are looking for volunteers.  If you are interested in helping July 28, 29 or 30, please let me know.  Thanks."

Results are in! Birdie Tree Updated!

From our newest Pro:
It was so nice to see so many of you all Tuesday morning.  The weather is getting warmer so be sure to drink plenty of fluids while on the course.  Please try to show up 15 minutes prior to the 8:30 shotgun so we can get everyone organized, go over the rules and send you all to the correct holes.  If you are planning on playing but are not 100% sure you signed up for Ladies Day, please call the Golf Shop by 7:30 am to confirm.  The goal is to make your day as fluid as possible.

The 3-Hole Club will be in effect beginning July 14th.  Don’t forget there will be no Ladies Day on Tuesday, July 7th as we are hosting the VSGA Amateur Qualifier for the Delta Dental State Open of Virginia.

FYI:  The Twilight Member-Guest is July 12th at 4 pm.
