The scorecards will be created as follows:
The pro shop will
determine the low handicap of the foursome.
(example: Player A =
12; Player B= 10; Player C=17; Player D=8)
Then the difference
between the low handicap and the remaining handicaps will be assigned to
the remaining three players.
(In the above scenario
Player D is the low handicap which results in the following strokes being
awarded
A=12 - 8 or 4; B=10 - 8 or 2; C=17 - 8 or 9; D=8 - 8 or 0)
Player A will be awarded
strokes on the four
lowest rated handicap holes.
Player B will be awarded
strokes on the two
lowest rated handicap holes.
Player C will be awarded
strokes on the nine
lowest rated handicap holes.
Player D will not be
awarded any strokes.
As I understand it, this
process is called "Zeroing out" the handicaps (Player D 8-8=0)
This example is an effort to avoid any possible confusion when you pick up
the scorecard and do not see that you have been awarded your full handicap.
This process makes scorekeeping a whole lot easier.
Since match play is
relatively new to all of us and because it is organized differently then
other match play events at JRCC, I think that everyone is open to
suggestions that you may have to improve the experience. A suggestion
would be this:
Get with your partner
and figure out some days/dates or times that work for both of you.
Once you have been able
to determine some mutually agreeable times, send out an email to everyone
participating in the event offering those options and try to schedule at least
two of your matches.

Guidelines:
All players
with a handicap are eligible for Match Play. The format is Four Ball
Match Play with handicaps. Each player plays her own ball, and each team uses the better
net score of its two players. A hole won is worth one point and holes tied are
worth a half point for each team.
Winners of each match will be awarded Pro Shop credits.
Players may
choose their own partner for the season, or sign up to play and be paired with
someone. Sign-ups will be handled by the Pro Shop 596-3112. The
list of teams will be posted in the Ladies Locker Room and the Pro Shop will
have a list. Teams will play against each other one time.
The 18 hole
matches will be scheduled at the players' mutual convenience. When tee times
are made for the match, the Pro Shop will make up a card for the match, listing
players handicaps.
Matches are to
be played between May 1 and October 31. Players are asked to schedule
their matches on days other than Tuesday.
